Allergy/Immunology
An allergist diagnoses and treats a variety of illnesses including hay fever, asthma and allergic eczema. An allergist also treats allergic reactions caused by food, medications and insect bites.

Anesthesiology
An anesthesiologist is the physician responsible for selecting and administering medications which render a patient capable of withstanding the stress of surgery while monitoring and maintaining the patient's vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, etc.) within normal limits.

Cardiology
A cardiologist is a physician having special knowledge and experience in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart disease.

Dentistry
Dentistry is the science and art of preventing, diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries and malformations of the teeth, jaws and mouth.

Electrophysiologist
Electrophysiology is the branch of cardiology that deals with problems related to the electrical system of the heart.

Emergency Medicine
An emergency medicine physician is trained to treat a wide range of health problems, but specializes in helping patients who experience trauma or sudden illness.

Endocrinology
An endocrinologist specializes in treatment of diseases of the hormonal system, including glands such as the thyroid, pituitary, adrenal and pancreas.

ENT(Ear, Nose & Throat, Otolaryngology)
An otolaryngologist diagnoses and manages diseases of the sinuses, larynx (voice box), oral cavity, and upper pharynx (mouth and throat), structures of the neck and face, as well as many ENT primary care problems in both children and adults.

Family Practice
A family practitioner deals with the medical and psychological problems of men and women of all ages, from newborns to senior citizens. Training for most doctors in this specialty includes prevention, internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, surgery and psychiatry. Family practitioners are often the first doctor consulted, working with other specialists when appropriate.

Gastroenterology
A gastroenterologist specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas and intestines.

General Surgery
A general surgeon performs a wide variety of operations on many different parts of the body, primarily to include abdominal, breast and vascular surgery.

Gynecology
A gynecologist is a doctor that specializes in the administration of health care to women. They are particularly concerned with the reproductive system.

Hand Surgery
A hand surgeon specializes in treatment of injuries to the hand.

Hospitalist
A hospitalist is a medical specialist who provides quality medical treatment to individuals while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists manage and coordinate the entire inpatient episode of care, working closely with the patient's primary care physician and/or specialists involved.

Infectious Disease
An infectious disease specialist diagnoses and treats diseases and conditions that can be transmitted to other persons.

Internal Medicine
Doctors of internal medicine focus on adult medicine and have had special study and training focusing on the prevention and treatment of adult diseases.

Nephrology
A nephrologist is an internist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of persons with kidney disease and hypertension.

Neurology
A neurologist is a specialist who diagnoses and treats diseases of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves by non-surgical methods and modalities. Diseases treated by neurologists include strokes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, convulsions, paralysis and different types of headaches.

Neurosurgery
A neurosurgeon specializes in diagnosing and treating disorders of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves, including ruptured discs of the neck and back, utilizing surgery as a method of treatment. They also treat vascular disorders affecting the nervous system.

Obstetrics & Gynecology
An obstetrician/gynecologist specializes in health problems involving a woman's reproductive system. This includes ongoing preventive health maintenance, pregnancy and its related care, and surgical problems of the reproductive system.

Oncology/Hematology
An oncologist deals with the medical management of cancer.

Ophthalmology
An ophthalmologist diagnoses and treats disorders of the eye, utilizing both medications and surgery as appropriate. They also do routine eye examinations.

Optometry
An optometrist diagnoses and treats vision problems, eye diseases and related conditions, and prescribes eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications to treat eye disorders.

Orthopedic Surgery
An orthopaedic surgeon treats medically and surgically, conditions of the bones, ligaments and tendons.

Pathology
A pathologist is a physician specializing in laboratory sciences for diagnosing disease using tissue biopsies, blood and other body fluids. The pathologist plays a crucial role in the treatment of patients by determining the cause and nature of their disease through various laboratory tests.

Pediatric Cardiology
A pediatric cardiologist is a doctor who is specially trained in the detection and treatment of heart disease in children.

Pediatrics
A pediatrician cares for the normal growth and development of children as well as deals with children's diseases and other health problems.

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
A physiatrist specializes in the treatment of disabling diseases or disorders, including those that affect the spinal cord, brain, muscles or joints.

Physician Assistant
A physician assistant (P.A.) is a licensed health professional who practices medicine under the supervision of a physician. A physician assistant provides a broad range of health care services that were traditionally performed by a doctor. As part of the physician/P.A. team, a physician assistant exercises considerable autonomy in diagnosing and treating illnesses.

Plastic Surgery
A plastic surgeon seeks to improve physical function or to minimize disfigurement or scarring resulting from an accident, disease or birth defect. Plastic surgery includes aesthetic surgery, popularly known as cosmetic surgery, which can reshape facial and bodily features and is designed to improve an individual's appearance.

Podiatry
A podiatrist is a doctor of podiatric medicine (DPM) and can perform treatments and surgeries on the foot and ankle.

Psychiatry
Psychiatrists diagnose and treat emotional illnesses. They apply their skills to detect personality problems, disorders of thought, significant emotional disorders and physical ailments with significant emotional aspects.

Psychology
Psychologists study the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social aspects of behavior, and provide mental health care in hospitals, clinics, schools, and private practices.

Pulmonary Medicine
A pulmonary specialist diagnoses and treats disorders of the lungs and chest cavity, such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, pneumonia and cancer.

Rheumatology
A rheumatologist is a doctor who treats arthritis and other diseases of the joints, muscles and bones. Rheumatologists are trained specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, and tendonitis.

Sports Medicine
A sports medicine specialist is an individual with specialized education and training who focuses on the medical and therapeutic aspects of sports participation and physical activity.

Thoracic Surgery
A thoracic surgeon is a doctor who performs operations on the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest.

Urology
Urologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the urinary and urogenital tracts, often utilizing surgery as well as medical treatment.

Vascular Surgery
A vascular surgeon is a specialist who evaluates and treats diseases of the blood vessels.
